7 of swords rx and 3 of cups... will he contact me?
One and a half weeks ago, a guy lied to me about something before he disappeared.
Before he disappeared, he kind of mentioned he will contact me after two weeks. Because I couldn't reach him, I asked tarot if he would contact me after two weeks and I got a 7 of swords rx.
After a week passed by, I found out his lie (by myself), so I asked tarot if he will contact me again, and I got 3 of cups.
I interpreted the 7 of swords as he will contact me and confessed.
And then for 3 of cups, since I found out his lie before he confessed, he will contact me and we will put things behind?
Can anyone help to see if I interpreted these two cards right?
Thank you so much!

Hi Lifegoeson!
Out of curiosity, what tarot deck do you use? I'm going to make some opinions based on this being something RWS-based. The imagery on the cards themselves can really effect what I intuit even if its just commenting on someone else's reading and so I might revise what I say later.
7 of Swords reversed can definitely mean that someone who's been treacherous or lied is feeling remorse but in a Yes-No reading like this one, I might have said at the time "He lied to you about something or there's something weird going on" and that would have been a No. 1 card Yes-No readings are actually the hardest kind of tarot to read.
Your interpretation will be right though if he does show up in the next week and admits he lied and you guys talk through why.
3 of Cups for me in a yes/no reading is usually positive and celebratory. Its also a card of "friend power". So my immediate response is "what do your friends say?" I get the feeling there is someone who are close to who has strong opinions on the topic and thinks you are better off if he doesn't contact you. But as a simple answer of yes/no? I'd use an upright 3 of Cups as Yes....most of the time.
My intuition though is that rather than giving you Yes/No as you wanted, your tarot deck said "This guy is a liar and not someone good for you- you know that deep down" followed by "Trust what other people are saying about this guy. They are the ones who matter most, not him."
There are so many times my tarot cards tell me information I should hear even if I fail to ask the right question. <3

Hi,
Thank you so much for your response.
The tarot deck I used only has the swords and the cups on the cards.
I did an eight cards spread (according to the book comes with the tarot deck) instead of one card yes-no reading. The spread is for love relationship. But when I asked the question, I made it very clear almost like a yes or no question with a time frame.
(I told the tarot what had happened between us and ask if he will contact me after two weeks?)
I totally agreed with you, I have a close friend reminded me that person was probably lying when I still believed his lie. And deeply down, I know it's meaningless for he and I to continue any sort of relationship...
Sunday will be the day...I will come back.
Thank you again.

You're asking yes/no questions, so I would be hesitant to read much more into them than the initial questions. The other post is right that doing yes/no with tarot is tricky. My feeling is that one should have a specific technique if one is going to do it and, personally, I would only read yes/no with Lenormand.
But, I'd say 7S = no, he won't contact you within that time frame, 3C = he will ultimately contact you.

Thank you, Charlie Brown.
Technically, I asked same questions both time
The first time was two weeks ago before I knew he lied. I ask if he will contact me after two weeks. ( 7 of swords reversed)
The second time was a week ago after I find out he lied. I ask if he will contact me after a week ( 3 of cups upright)
If one is no and one is yes, was that because I asked same questions consecutively? Or because I did something in-between?

Honestly, I don't know. My opinion is that a reader generally can't count on accurate cards if they aren't very intentional with their questions and methodology, so since you are inexperienced with yes/no draws I wouldn't trust your cards at all. It isn't just about having someone more experienced interpret them. Also, It's sort of a no-no to ask the same question more than once. If the cards had already told you no for the time period, then a second pass at the question is automatically invalid. At least that's how I practice.

Hi Charlie Brown,
Thank you! I think I should just put everything behind.
You are right, I'm very inexperienced with tarot. (I start to get confused of what exactly I asked now.)
I have my tarot deck for more than twenty years but I only ask questions when I have very difficult time to get through things.

Aha! That all makes sense. I'm happy to have helped. Also? Don't be hard on yourself for any part of this. I'm really glad you reached out to the forum and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Hi,
He didn't contact me.
My friend got me a second job opportunity, so I was working on it and hung out with her over the weekend.
I am still hoping he will eventually contact me...

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I was checking out the threads and came across your question. I agree with the first reply in regards to your yes/no questions. Based on how they read your cards though, I have a strong feeling that this situation be better addressed by your cards with a more indepth reading. I say this because it seems the cards have more to tell you. You seem to have lingering feelings about this situation and person. And there could be something for you to learn from this situation. I personally like the Celtic cross spread for situations like this.
