Sorry to hear of the death of Dr John. He has his own card which replaces the Magician in The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot.

Mr. Rebennack developed "Dr. John" as a stage persona. He was not a Loa.

Do they specifically SAY it's THIS Dr. John? The white keyboardist (not drummer) who had a hit with "Right Place, Wrong Time"?
Or might they be referring to someone else?

No he helped write the book. The deck was designed by Sallie Ann Glassman.You should try to get your facts right.

I don't own the deck, I took AT's word as to who created it. Apparently there is a Sallie Ann Glassman involved, and "Louis Martinez" should be "Louis Martinié". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sallie_An ... oDoo_Tarot (It's suspicious that there are no POC at all involved in this project.) If you want to ask her what she meant, go ahead.

For myself, I don't need confirmation that Dr. John Rebennack is not a Loa.

I just prepared a beautiful dinner and we sat in the garden and ate and listened to Dr. John.
A fox joined us. Sat in the grass (which we let grow tall) and listened with us.

All the cards are not loa. From the wikipedia entry you refer to:
