The old historical decks and their histories or possible histories greatly appeal to me. The tales individual cards tell is most enlightening. This is my article on The Lovers in the Court of Ferrara.

This a new take on the Lovers to me. It's dark, I like it.CaraHamilton wrote: ↑11 Feb 2019, 00:12 https://secret-tarot-garden.com/2019/01 ... her-lover/

I hope you don't mind if I take a little excerpt from your blog Cara:
Some sources state the Lovers Tarot Card ever since has acted as a chilling memento mori. If you are a young wife to an old husband, cheat and you will lose your head. Only the rich could afford Tarot cards after all. In many decks, the angel above is seen with the bow and arrow, often interpreted as Cupid piercing their hearts with love. However in Italy during this period the bow and arrow was a sign of death. This is the reason the Death Card below holds a bow and not a scythe.
It is so interesting how symbols change, like cupid's arrow. It always did seem so odd to me that "true love" would be initiated by a weapon of death and that the bow and arrow would evolve into a symbol of "love."
I love this kind of background because, for me, it kind of blows away the banal veneer that so often hides the really human and messy parts of life that the Tarot and other related studies delve so deeply into for us to help us understand our world and our lives.
