New Deck Announcements
I couldn't figure where to put this topic...
I thought it would be a good idea to have a topic to post announcements for decks we were interested in. I recently mentioned I had made a pre-order of the Fantastic Menagerie re-issue that had gone unawares by @AstralPasta, which I thought was unacceptable! "Maybe we should have a topic for such announcements," I thought. So, here it is! (Mods, please move if appropriate.)

Re: New Deck Announcements
Here is another new re-issue announcement. The Tarot de Marseille Piatnik 1984 was recently reissued. The second reissue is exactly the same as the 1984. I "accidentally" re-purchase it at Books-a-Million. If you're interested in a Piatnik TdM (I guess amazon links aren't allowed here), you can easily google "Piatnik Tarot de Marseilles" and it comes right up. It's very affordable now. Unfortunately, time and again there are sellers on ebay who want to sell this version at exorbitant prices. Don't fall for it!

Re: New Deck Announcements
I think this might fit better in the "Current Crowdfunding Campaigns & Pre-Orders" section?
I know it isn't perfect. Let me think about it. But I will move it there for now at least.
Amazon links are allowed here for sure. I don't think there are any links not allowed, not technically speaking any way. And we certainly have nothing against helping people sell their work or buyers to find it.
However, whenever possible if there is a direct link to a creator's website, that would be preferred just because it's better for the seller when they don't go through a 3rd party. Also, the websites are usually better!

Re: New Deck Announcements
A charming edition to be sure even though it's personally not "my thing", however, the J.J. Grandville imagery will surely benefit from this new metallic cold-stamp process they're using.fire cat pickles wrote: ↑25 May 2020, 13:09 Here is the link for the Fantastic Menagerie, second edition pre-order:

I can attest that this cold-stamp process very subtly adds depth and dimension to the imagery.
The Mythical Creatures printing is breathtaking, and the cold-stamp process doesn't overwhelm the imagery, at least not in the way it was employed by the fine folk at BaBa Studio. They employ this printing technique with great finesse.
At first I was afraid the cold-stamping might be detracting, but it's not the case at all.
I would encourage anybody who missed out on the initial 2006 release to go for this new edition.

Kat Black's "Touchstone Tarot" by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. now on pre-order:
https://www.usgamesinc.com/touchstone-tarot.html
so far the most obvious changes made by U.S. Games are the designs for the card backs and the title "plate" at the bottoms of the cards, they appear to be very tasteful cosmetic updates to a splendid deck.

Re: New Deck Announcements
I thought I'd be able to sail through my deck moratorium after only buying one lone Sibilla this 2020. But one look at the Gilded Dali Set and all my resolve crumbled to dust.
I'm curious: is Salvador Dali the only major artist from the Western Canon (aside maybe from Jodorowsky) who actually crafted a divinatory deck himself?

the short answer is yes, and that's a fascinating topic unto itself with much potential for in-depth discussion and analysis, so in the interest of keeping this particular thread on track and doing justice to your question regarding the esoteric works of other contemporary artists, I think it would be a great idea for you to create a new thread so that we can delve into that matter in detail.
perhaps JM or Chas.Brown can suggest an appropriate section where you can initiate the thread.

I'm glad I wandered back to the forum at this time, though I had been lurking just a bit. Preordering in the next three days. aHaHaHa.
So many decks in this thread that I'd never heard of. I took a look at the Piatnik decks, they're so interesting! I had heard of the OOP Pointer Marseille by them, which I really love the looks of but not enough at the going price. (Also my Sakki-Sakki is filling that niche pretty nicely atm so I'm not pressed.)
On my phone mainly so pardon the typos! Also if I seem more lucid than average, I'm probably typing on a PC. Hah!

I just backed to Two-Penny Oracle by Madam Clara. I just got around to checking out the crowdfunding box Joan Marie so kindly updated for us!
A simple oracle system (keywords of phrenology) and round cards! A no-brainer for me! (They're also available as regular rectangular cards.) Her other decks are a little TOO Victorian for me, but it works for these keywords!
