Pagan Otherworlds
If you're hesitating whether to invest the money and buy the Pagan Otherworlds... or continue your life without it... here are some pictures to give you an impression of how it feels and how it reads.
My camera is bad and I took the pictures quickly but have a look.
The sealed box
I didn't break the seal....
... I take out the cards from the bottom of the box.
What a pity I didn't catch the surface quality of the Moon cards
three line spread with Seeker card in the middle - I like this card
five card cross
beautiful Ace of Cups!
seeker
six card pyramid - can you see how soft they are?
the pyramid seen from above
Can you see the surface now? like velvet but very slippery - i wonder how this deck feels after ten years of hard work, somehow I'm sure it will feel like HEAVEN
cardbacks - beautiful, understated, like a precious but functional textile - and that's what the whole deck is, precious AND functional
I hoped that helped! Now guess whether I regretted spending all that money

Re: Pagan Otherworlds
It's beautiful isn't it?
A definite favourite - since I bought mine last year, I have to remind myself that I have other decks to work with! As for the card stock - if only every deck was made in the same fashion.
Well worth the price (and the shocking postal charges!)

I'm glad to hear that you're getting so much reading done with this deck. It's just stunningly beautiful, but I wonder if I'd be able to read it without difficulty. Did you find that there were any periods of adjustment or special tricks you needed to use in order to get started with it?velvetina wrote: ↑26 Jul 2018, 08:49 It's beautiful isn't it?

Re: Pagan Otherworlds
To be honest, no.
I received it and loved it and used it immediately. It felt very familiar to me.
I don't know if this is helpful or relevant, but other long-standing favourites of mine are the Aquarian and the Maddonni. They "resemble" the Pagan Otherworlds I feel, because they feel full of space; they seem to invite one to 'fill in the gaps'. There's no clutter of symbols, no attached story or agenda. I almost always prefer ambiguity in my decks.
Also, I like a deck that allows me to enter a familiar world; the Pagan Otherworlds reminds me of old houses, museums and galleries, that Classical style - it feels like an easy threshold to step over.
I'm using the word 'feel' a lot I know! How one responds to a tarot deck is subjective, so it seems appropriate.

Re: Pagan Otherworlds
Well, it makes me think it's a deck that one has to feel their way into, which sort of confirms my general impression.
I believe in Crystal Light.
Re: Pagan Otherworlds
These look lovely. I see similarities to the the Fountain deck as the same type of card stock, and the subtle colouring. I'm not sure I'd pay out a lot for a deck though:)

I hope you enjoyed your deck! For me, it reads very well and the cardstock is lovely. I particularly like the Death card...it just has a look to it like it's saying "Get outta my way, I have Death stuff to attend to!"
Re: Pagan Otherworlds
I though I got rid of my hankering for this deck. But looking at some Uusi productions online obliterated my resolve, so now I not only have the Pagan Otherworlds, but the Eros: Garden of Love Marseille and the Pagan Playing Cards as well. At least the store gave me the Eros drawstring bag for free.
One question though: is the companion book for the Pagan Otherworlds useful? The store doesn't have it, but if it's important I'll just buy it online. The book for the Eros seems just like a collection of bawdy verse so I may not get it.

Re: Pagan Otherworlds
It's funny. I did a reading (TdM) to tell me if I'd be better off with this deck or the Dark Carnival. It came heavily in favor of the DC. Sadly, I can't find notes about what my exact draw was.
I believe in Crystal Light.
Re: Pagan Otherworlds
I like meta readings. They've often given me profound messages. Haven't used them to choose between decks so I'm curious.
The Dark Carnival Tarot looks lit. It reminds me of Roxi Sim's art.
