We're always mentioning that Tarot was originally a game. A card game.
But have any of you ever played the card game of Tarot ? It's one of the most popular games in France, with clubs and tournaments, It's been played since the 16th century or even earlier, I don't know for sure (the rules did change a bit over time). I don't take time to play it anymore, but I remember evenings when we'd start at about 10pm and suddenly it was 4am in the morning and we hadn't seen the time pass !
It's really a great game. It's not normally played with the Tarot that we use for divination, but a tarot deck as we know it can work just the same, as all the cards required are there.
The rules seem complicated. But actually they're not once you've put them into practice you realise their logic.
Here's one link to the rules, but there are many websites there with the rules explained if this one doesn't suit you.

The game of Tarot
Rumi was asked “which music sound is haram?” Rumi replied, "The sound of tablespoons playing in the pots of the rich, which are heard by the ears of the poor and hungry." (haram means forbidden)
Re: The game of Tarot
For the curious, the most commonly-used deck for the game is the Tarot Nouveau (in France, at least).

Hello Diana, I found the document I mentioned (somewhere) about the connection between the game and divination. It is the chapter entitled 'Le Jeu' of the following: https://www.scribd.com/document/415003159/Le-Tarot

How wonderful!! The internet is amazing. It allows us access to so much information we'd miss out on otherwise._R_ wrote: ↑01 Jul 2019, 10:04 Hello Diana, I found the document I mentioned (somewhere) about the connection between the game and divination.
