Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is well and safe.
I placed a topic earlier this month and I will come back to that a little later.
I have laid a Celtic cross spread using the Raider Waite tarot for beginners.
The question that I asked is:
How big are my chances for getting the medical funding?
Celtic cross
position (all upright)
1. seven of swords
2. empress
3. five of cups
4. page of cups
5. page of wands
6. the chariot
7. 3 of wands
8. emperor
9. the world
10. temperance
I used the 8th position for timing, and environment and it stands for number four. But does it mean that I best wait? But the chariot is in the 6th position maybe telling to go ask for the help and that it will be successful?
I suggest that I could get the right as in the 10th outcome: but only if I ask help from experts in the field, that will be of help?
The chariot in 6th positions advices to be confident and courageous by staying balanced in all I will do; as I might take on too much onto myself and lose focus. The chariot in the 6th position says that I must not wait right? I am planning on moving to another place soon. Could that be stated by the chariot here as well? It is confusing for me as a beginner?
My birth card is a number 7. Maybe it says something personal about me and not in the context of an opportunity, for the next 3 months. Or…. that I should grab this chance as in grabbing the bull by the horns and not wait? I may also be pulled into two directions which might cause an internal imbalance through the process? By remaining confident by doing my homework. Added due to a relocation, that could cause an imbalance. And relocating confirmed by the world card in the 9th position.
The emperor may be telling me to wait a little, and not go for it now? Since the emperor isn’t going to take BS and I need to prepare well? With his stern demeanor, little emotions and significant power? Or does he tell me that I can rely on his help, as he is THE father figure? Which confused me a lot. In reality, it is a large organization that helps with medical funding. He could be the organization or the person I will be dealing with? But maybe, I could be dealing with a very stern and rigid bureaucratic person that is not going to be willing to help me? Also stated as in the seven of swords which frightens me really.
Furthermore: positions: 1,2, and 7. In position 1, there is a lot of thinking on my part or maybe the situation I am I am aware of? This one was very tricky. I am wary of deception or that I could be told flat out lies. I am not deceiving anyone, honestly. I think it is the environment. That which I fear? It maybe warns me to not tell everything in my medical record, says the seven of swords warning? I am a little torn as I will have to go through an entire procedure: which is going to be very emotional to me.
Next, the empress is a whole another card, which is about motherhood, creativity, and the wife of the emperor which is so much softer in character. I don't really have a mother figure? I do have a coach who works with me but don't consider her a mother but a coach? Maybe it is telling me to use my creativity but in what honest way possible? I am not pregnant in this case
Lastly, the 3th position tells me that I’ve already given up? There is no hope I think? It signifies my short term actions I belief? Maybe it is telling me that I am not taking any actions at all? Which is true, I have been thinking about it, but do to many burdens I have been feeling I have not.
The five of cups card signifies a lot of sorrow. That it true I recognize myself in it. Something happened in the past and I honestly lost some hope, saying it mildly. I also suffer from mild depression. I think that the third position is about the short term actions I am taking right? I think about taking action but I gave up a little. But maybe it tells me more, and hopefully some more hope.
The 4th position tell me that I will be getting a message, and that I am very sensitive and creative of nature which is true. I write poetry for myself. Maybe I want or need to explore my creative nature more? But how could I see it in this context?
the fifth position says that I have all the assets I need to win this case and that I have the drive and enthusiasm? Signified in the page of wands? My rising sun is in Sagittarius
The wands, the student. I don’t get this really. Maybe use my enthusiasm? While it is a very serious trial? Or it is telling that I have what it needs?
I hope someone can help me on this very important question. I want to apologize for the long text but I am grateful that I am able to post it here as it very emotional to me.
Thanks a lot.
Warm wishes
Amethyst.

Re: I could use some help with the Celtic Cross
Thank you for sharing such a personal reading. It definitely feels like you were asking a really important question. I carefully read your post and looked up at the diagram where each card would be, thinking about your self-responses.
In this case, Temperance as an outcome suggests to me that you are going to get some of what you are seeking but there are a lot of variables at work. Not knowing anything about the situation beyond what you just posted makes it hard to get specific insights. But I'm guessing that getting medical funding would solve a huge financial problem but not solve the medical issue that underlies the need for it. With all the cards upright, with those three major arcana side by side and at the end of the spread and the chariot there as your near future?
The best thing you can do is to be calm, confident, work with that coach and any lawyer or professional who comes your way from a place of sincerity. But there is probably little you can do at this juncture other than follow the advice of someone knowledgeable who you trust (Empress but not necessarily a woman) in what the next step is. It feels like a lot of the forces at work right now regarding this matter are outside of your control.
That's the best I can offer and hope it is helpful!

Re: I could use some help with the Celtic Cross
1. You know what you need to do and have all the tools for your success.
2. Force working against you; your belief in your ability to bring new ideas into existence.
3. 3 Choices/options you had, didnt work out. You still have at least 2 viable options left. Dont loose heart over what didn't work out.
4. In the past you were very hopeful.
5. You may have been encourted by someone or soon will be with news or an opportunity for you.
6. In the near future, if you tap into your internal willpower/drive/focus, you will overcome obstacles in your path. Dont give up.
7. Dreams and ideals: You are actively waiting for news about your medical funding, keeping your eyes on it.
8. There is someone in your life, who is father-like figure to you, protective and cares about your well-being. It might be a man, maybe a father/husband, or friend. This person is there to help and guide you.
9. You are hoping for success and a situation that ends in victory.
10. Outcome: Equalibrium will be restored in your life when you find your balance. Move forward in your situation with tact.
What I get out of this reading is, the only sure fire way to succeed is to look at your options, believe in your self, consult your support system, and go through the steps of what you need to do to have your medical funding considered. The only way to fail is to not try. So even if you dont exactly get the outcome you wanted, at least you will know you did all you can do. And you may be surpised and get an even better outcome than you hoped for.
I hope this helps. Im somewhat of an intermediate begginer. Ive been practicing doing readings for myself for quite some time. I rely heavily on inuition, inner reflection, and self growth in my readings when considering the meanings/history of a card and the placement.

Re: I could use some help with the Celtic Cross
Amethyst, you got some good answers and I won't get into the specific reading but instead, if I may, give you a tip or two to make it easier for future readings.
1. the Question: you asked "How big are my chances for getting the medical funding?" That's not a useful question. How big are the chances? The answer for that would be numbers: you have a 75% chance of success, or something like this. Tarot can't do that. If you want percentages and numbers, a more oracular oracle like coins would probably be better.
2. the Question: in your question, there is no room for what YOU can do. Only: how will it end? what will the result be? The best tarot questions imho are questions that give you agency. What do I have to do to get the medical funding? That's a tarot question.
3. the Spread. There is no reason at all to use the Celtic Cross for such a pragmatic question. Once you have the right question, go on and make your own spread. A Celtic Cross gives you information overload. Be specific!
I see in your reading that it's so difficult to connect the intention of your question, the traditional meaning of the CC positions, and card meanings and what it means for you. I may be wrong, but this is not the way to get the best results with tarot.
A proper spread for that question might look like this:
What do I have to do to get the medical funding?
1: obstacles I have to consider
2.: factors in my favour
3.: ideas I didn't explore yet
4.: people who can help me
5.: wise advice for the overall situation
You may wish to add a card concerning your move.
It's possible to use three cards per spread position but you say you're a beginner, and that would be again too much to consider - I'd use one card per spread position.
Make your own spread with what you want to know, don't stick to mine, only you know what you want and have to know. Write each spread position on a post-it note and arrange them nicely. Choose a shape that you feel suits the question - an arrow, a road, a star, whatever. And then give it a go!
Before you start looking in a book what each card means, have a look at how the cards interact with each other visually. A map of energies - where are they flowing, is there a blockage?
As a second step, start to look whether there is a suit or an element lacking or over-represented, whether certain numbers or symbols appear on more than one card.
Only then, turn to your book.
After you're done, take a picture - you may find more insight in your dreams or tomorrow! And if you can find an affirmation, that's great. The Wise Advice card may become your focus when you have to do the next phone call etc.
Hope that helps! I hope I didn't hurt your feelings. I simply see too often that people struggle with the CC. There is so much more in tarot spreads than this old vehicle

Re: I could use some help with the Celtic Cross
Hello Nemia,
I must have not seen your response, possibly a technicality and when you get so caught up in day-to days and not receiving a notification, I miss things. But maybe this is a better time for me to read as in timing from above.
Thank you for your elaborated help considering my question. Reading your comment just helps clear things out and seeing it from another perspective. I am a beginner, and the celtic cross can seem absolutely daunting. The many cards can be confusing yes! Your approach is helpful! I can start using your method for beginners. I am getting the grips when I do a three cards, but adding a card to each card in the spread can make it seem more challenging.
I am curious to see how this will work out...
Thanks again Nemia, I really really appreciate your help. I am so happy I find this forum, with many helpful and great people!
