What does this spread tell me?

Discussions about individual cards, their symbolism & meanings. How the cards combine and speak to us in spreads is another thing altogether! Here we learn about both.

What does this spread tell me?

Post by Amethyst »

Hello Eveyone,

I have been playing with my Lenormand cards for a little while as a beginner. I have laid cards now for two people I know to practise.
Both times seemed to be correctly somehow, though need some more insight ofcourse.

I have laid the next cards on a question they raised: I laid a 5- card spread.

What would be the best career for me to pursue to coming five years.

I got

LEFT 1 crossroads
Left 2 birds

middle: bouqet

right: number 4 snake
right card 5 cross.

I thought past was a decision using the communication or the voice. The middle card as a talent card. and the right cards as saying to help people that suffer. Perhaps healthcare? I also though that it could mean that it would be better to heal first right now since the snake and cross are negative cards?

What could be your ideas?

Thank you?

Hi Amethyst,

Just a quick observation, I'm no expert, but Lenormand is read differently from tarot, it's more like a narrative and the relationship of the cards to one another is where the story is. Typically positions are not assigned like in Tarot.

However that said, I'd say your interpretation does hold some water. However that is one really broad question. That's a lot for 5 little cards to sort out for you.
Maybe it would be easier to interpret if you could narrow down your career possibilities and interest some? And then asked about each of those?

Because any career is going to require training/education which is expensive and a lot of hard work and then you are going to be dedicated to it for life maybe.

If you choose a medical career, thats going to be a very different path in every way than say, actor or deep sea diver, or hairdresser or Pirate.

And even within something like medicine there are so many possibilities.

You must have something in mind, some ideas, maybe ask the cards about those things specifically.

Hi Joan,

Thank you for your help.

So you think my question could be too broad? I thought a five card would suit best. Maybe I should keep it to a max of 3? Or maybe just one card? I am not really known with Lenormand regards to work.

Your help is very welcoming, although you are more known to Tarot, I think your framing of questions and tips are helpful. I may learn the Tarot at a much later time. I have enough already learning these.

I will go try use your advice.

1 card spreads don't work with lenormand really.
It's an entirely different system than Tarot.

But I think you maybe misunderstood my comment.
I didn't say your spread (5 cards ) was too broad, I said your question was too broad.

What I meant was you need to narrow down your question. Just asking "what career" to a deck of cards is pretty impossible. Imagine asking a stranger that question? The answer could be absolutely anything in the world. teacher, dogcatcher, pirate, chef, IT Specialist, shoe salesperson, president. But if you narrow it down to say, the medical field, and then express your interests, i.e. children, research, nursing, surgery, physical therapy, dentistry etc, and maybe how much education you can manage, then the possibilities become more clear and you can maybe get some good advice.

Asking a specific and clear question is as important as being able to read the cards, regardless of its Tarot or Lenormand or Oracle cards. The answer you get is as good as the question you ask. I think there are some threads around this forum about that topic specifically.

There are also some good threads about reading Lenormand. I will try and find some and post the links here but I suggest you have a look around for yourself and see what you can learn.

Yes Joan, yes I may have. So it is not the 5 card but about having more specific questions.

I would love the links for Lenormand.

I will search where I can find them too. I really enjoy it.
