I am struggling to decide whether to buy myself a book about tarot or a tarot deck.
Both cost around the same price.
What do you recommend I buy?
I am thinking between holistic tarot book and anna k. tarot deck.

I drew a card to help me decide, and here is the result!
Book:7 of wands
Card: The devil
My interpretation: It is better to go with the book, although I need to be cautious about my purchase.
It is better than the card which will get me into a purchasing addiction.

Yes, what you and Charlie Brown both said.
Book will give you more of a challenge and if you take up the challenge, you'll progress. Deck would be nice of course, but it's more of an indulgence at the moment. Stay focused.
Nice interpretation chongjasmine !!
(I had to go and check up what the RWS 7 of Wands looks like. Why is he wearing two different types of shoes ??)

Gave way to temptation huh ? He's a crafty one, that Devil !!! Well, there's no harm... you would have ended up buying the deck and the book both anyway one day I would assume.
But it's a bit of a wasted reading !
There again, no harm. We've discussed a bit the interpretation and that should have given you more ideas about what the cards can mean. It takes time to learn the Tarot. In fact, it takes FOREVER. We can never stop learning.

LMAO that gave me a laugh. I can relate.
Honestly I'm surprised I don't get the devil card that much in this regard.
Be sure to check out the author's website and YouTube channel for free supplementary resources that go along with Holistic Tarot.

Some of the best books comes packaged with a deck. One way to access these books cheaply is with an app that includes the full text of the book.

I buy used books in bulk during bulk sales. I keep a full wishlist and only purchase the books when I can get them cheaply.

Most states have a large library in the capital city that gives free library card to all state residents. These large libraries often offer a range of online resources that can be accessed from home. I am able to access Tarot eBooks through my library.

Also taking notes from a library book is time consuming. I only take concise notes from library books for a SINGLE topic that I am currently studying. For example, if I am studying tarot affirmations, I might have a stack of library books, but I would only copy the affirmations I liked from that stack of books.
Other example topics to do research on:
Timing
Tarot spells
Court Cards
Reversals
Symbols
Colors
Numerology
The Elements
Do not try and take notes from a BOOK: take notes on a TOPIC.

Also I have learned to take screen shots of information on tarot websites, and have learned how to copy and paste text, and save images, and view a webpage in "reader mode" before trying to print it.
I create folders on a USB drive or my desktop to organize information that I cannot afford to print.

AHHHH. :lightbulb:
That is an exceptionally good piece of advice right there.
