Five Decks for 2021-2022

Post by TheLoracular »

US Games Systems has a very generous policy on Reproduction and Usage of Tarot Card Images and I'm getting ready to apply for a two year license to cover five decks for doing Twitch, YouTube, blog and newsletter content for 2021-2022. I wanted to focus specifically on more esoteric decks but to have a lot of diversity/inclusivity. Narrowing the list was a little challenging. Here is what I came up with, based on what I already own at least one copy of and published through US Games Systems.

1. The Universal Waite Tarot -- cozy, RWS, easy to read and teach others to read with, have a spare copy if cards get damaged/worn

2. Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot -- popular, very esoteric, have access to a lot of books/articles featuring it, have a spare copy if cards gets damaged/worn

3. Pride Tarot -- recently published, incredibly inclusive, LGBTQA+ specific, I like it a lot

4. Chrysalis Tarot -- colorful, lots of multicultural symbolism, award-winning, unique suits, positive messaging.

5. Haindl Tarot -- very esoteric, touches on symbols and images the others don't, earthy and dark, have a spare copy if cards get damaged/worn

There are thousands of decks out there and hundreds of people producing free classes and YouTube videos already. This is aimed to be a labor of love rather than a serious commercial venture. I have the broad eclectic background in esoterica/metaphysics to help me be able to teach a lot about symbolism and concepts. I feel like this is a pretty solid list of affordable and accessible decks to offer classes/videos on. A lot of beginning/intermediate tarot readers (I think) would find at least one of these decks worth learning more about, especially on YouTube in series of 8-12 minute class videos?

What do you think?
Tarot is a great and sacred arcanum- its abuse is an obscenity in the inner and a folly in the outer. It is intended for quite other purposes than to determine when the tall dark man will meet the fair rich widow.”

So I ended up settling on 8 rather than 5 US Games Systems decks for 2021-2022 content creation. I decided to add a couple that feel really inclusive and modern to compliment the classics. A something for everyone kind of list.

1. Universal Waite Tarot
2. Pride Tarot: A Collaborative Deck Tarot
3. Thoth Tarot
4. Hanson-Roberts Tarot (specifically to demonstrate tarot as a writing/gaming tool)
5. Chrysalis Tarot
6. Haindl Tarot Tarot
7. The Urban Tarot (several cards also appear in the Pride Tarot)
8. New Era Elements Tarot

Eight is a number with some good symbolism to it :)

A good-looking list! You definitely hit your target of esoteric + inclusive!

The Hanson-Roberts was one of my first decks, and I still like its RWS close-ups!

I look forward to seeing what you do with the Haindl. It has a lot to mine through!

Good luck on your project!

That's a good mixture of decks to do what you're aiming to do :D
Thank you for deciding to share your knowledge! No matter how many free tarot content is out there, there will never be enough because everyone's knowledge and experience with tarot is unique. I would love to follow your content, especially as I'm not familiar with the esoteric aspects. I want to geek out :geek: I look forward to what you come out with!

Hola.

Excelente lista, yo solamente te recomendaría cambiar el universal white tarot, por el The 100% Plastic Rider-Waite® Tarot, también editado por U.S. Games Systems Inc.

https://www.amazon.com.mx/gp/aw/d/16467 ... CY9T&psc=1

Ya que al ser de plástico las cartas te van a durará muchísimo tiempo si le vas a dar un uso rudo.

Espero te sirva mi aporte
