I just received The Shakespeare Tarot, which IMHO, is nothing short of a masterpiece, a brilliant achievement that is as aesthetically satiating as it is academically compelling.

The artwork is visually breathtaking and reveals the complex subtleties of dedicated scholarship. The book is a tour de force in its own right, and is a required companion to the deck.

They compliment each other perfectly, rather, one necessitates the existence of the other to a degree that can only be described as symbiotic. This is a body of work that speaks with a powerful voice and resonance.

It brings to mind a recent news item about the discovery of what may have been the remnants of the Red Lion playhouse, an Elizabethan era theater, ca. 1567 - 1569.
