Tagging members?

I can't seem to get it to work. I tried the usual @ before the username, then I tried the same thing with the username in quotes. Nada.
Does it work differently here, or does the forum just not allow tagging? (I know excessive tagging can get annoying. But it's nice to have something to make sure you get someones' attention, especially if they don't get on every day and might have a big pile-o-posts to catch up on!)

I'm pretty sure there's no tagging feature.

I suspect you're correct. I just went through my notifications and there's PM's and thanks, but no tags.
When a tagging feature exists, it's been my experience that it always gets used.

I agree. If you quote some text from the person you want to tag, they will see a notification. That's about the closest thing we have.
Let me look into it and see if I can find something.

Thank you!
I don't always check the quoted text notifications right away if I haven't been on much in a few days and there's a lot of them. I imagine a lot of others are similar. I quote people a lot, but it's just so everybody can see what I'm responding to, not to get anyone's attention. Tagging puts a little more priority on a notification.

This is a situation where tagging people might be helpful. @Dodalisque
*loves* stuff like this, but he's only on about once a week these days, it seems, so he may well miss it.
Dodalisque is our techy person/coder guy? Well, then!

I think your reading is 100% accurate

No, he's not. I think Charlie Brown was using dodalisque as an example of someone you might want to tag on a topic because otherwise, due to his infrequent visits to the forum, he'd miss it.
BTW- I moved the posts from the other thread where they accidentally posted.

It was no accident. I was trying to alert him to the fictional characters thread.

Ah!! I'm so sorry. I'll put it back.

BTW- There actually is an extension (what they call apps on these boards) that will do exactly what katrinka wanted to do, allow users to use the @ symbol to tag people. The thing is according to the discussion group for it, there seems to be a lot of trouble with it in some situations, conflicts with other extensions, etc. I'm trying to get more information and see if it's been stabilised. It sounds like exactly what we want. I just don't want to implement it until I 'm sure it won't cause a tech issue.

Aieeee, yes. And some things are great on the laptop, but not the phone, or they're for IOS and not Android, and all manner of other craziness! So much unnecessary complication...
