What do you all think of this for a frame colour?

It's alright. Do I recall that the grey had some texturing? Maybe you could combine this color with a little of the texturing.

Something more this direction?

Am not too keen on the plain beige. I would have seen it a little bit more "greyer". Textured am not too keen on either so much - I find it could get wearisome in the long run. But I reckon everyone will have different opinions. It's difficult I imagine to find something that fits with all the cards.
I'll be happy anyway with whatever is chosen. Not too important for me but I gave my opinion regardless.

That was exactly what I had in mind but, seeing it, I think I like the straight beige better.

I prefer the shaded, or textured beige better. Perhaps maybe less beige and more grey?

I'm not crazy about the beige either. Beige always struck me as kind of drab and timid.
Grey the beige and you get a taupe shade. But taupe is for ladies' stockings and pantyhose.
The images all seem to have a lot of color. They'd pop nicely in a dark frame.

I just realised what that colour reminds me of, band-aids (plasters)
I was trying for a kind of cream colour just to see how a light frame would look, but I thought it needed a little tinge of something. And I ended up with "band-aid".
I'm leaning back toward the mottled grey again.
As seen here

I like the mottled grey. Looks elegant and discreet.

I was just wondering if I could somehow get it to look more silvery than grey.
Would be nice with the gold.

LOL, yes!
"Flesh tone" - that matches no flesh on the planet.
Yes, the grey was much nicer!

I think that grey is gorgeous. I really like it. You could even darken it some more.
