Tarot Haiku
A haiku is a short poem of Japanese origin, often three lines long, often 5-7-5 syllables (but it can be shorter). It records the essence of a moment and typically talks about nature (or, at the very least, human nature.) It's concrete, not abstract. (I've written a whole book about this ... ). Often, the haiku has a "break" between two parts that stand in (direct or not-so-obvious) relationship. Here's an example of a traditional haiku by one of the grand masters, Issa
Here, we can just use it as an exercise in conciseness. So ... the idea is - take three tarot cards and write a haiku about them. Make it three lines, with no more than 17 syllables altogether.
I'll start:
two passions
moving towards balance:
beginning of a journey
Universal Tarot
Temperance, Knave of Wands, 6 of Wands

Re: Tarot Haiku
I love Haiku. And I love this idea. Thank you jaq.
I have to admit, I like to stick to the 5-7-5 syllable construct myself. I find the constraint a creative challenge.
So here is my first of what will no doubt be many goes at this.
Randomness of Life
Is senseless to fight against
Enjoy as it is

Re: Tarot Haiku
Oh I love haiku! I didn't pull any cards, I will just go through some readings I have posted. The reversals were taken into consideration for this haiku. I also do the 5-7-5 style.
energy builds forth
only to knock down the king
the battle was lost
