The Year in Crowdfunding
Posted: 02 Dec 2018, 11:36
In trying to update the "Live Crowdfunding Campaigns" info-box on the home page here, I'm finding there is kind of a dearth of live projects at the moment. It could be that maybe this isn't the best time of year for doing a crowdfunding project. I'm sure it will pick up again in 2019 and we will again see all sorts of new astonishing decks.
Please let us know when you see any new campaigns start up.
Also, if you have participated in any Deck- related crowdfunding this year as a buyer or a seller and want to share the experience, this would be a good place to do it.

I will go first.
I did a Kickstarter last spring to raise money to get this forum launched. The money was for 3 years of server space with secure hosting and some incidentals, url etc.
It was a real nail-biter there for a while but we met the goal and I got the forum launched on May 25th, 2018.
(see the Thank-you page here)
In addition to the funds, I got a lot of support in the way of brilliant ideas and suggestions from people and a lot of sincere encouragement which I really needed and appreciate endlessly.
I also supported a couple of decks that didn't make it and I hope they try again. I did support the Duck Soup Production of "Tinker's Damn" and it is one my regular goto decks now.
So that's my crowdfunding story for this year. What's yours?
