A closed kickstarter project that overwhelmed it's funding goals:

Oak Ash Thorn Tarot Deck

the artwork is simply charming, and delightfully heartwarming.

Excerpt:

"The deck will be printed on 400gsm card stock and protected by matte, anti-scuff laminate. The cards measure 70mm x 120mm, and they'll be housed in a 350gsm tuck flap box."

They describe their creation as stunning (with admitted bias :D ) , well, the art IS stunning.

They also claim their deck being RWS based, is also very intuitive.
Judging from the few pictures I've seen, this deck is definitely intuitive and accessible, and not because it's RWS based, the artist should be lauded for making it so.

Those are beautiful. Sometimes I really am in the mood for a nice nature deck. They kind of take me out of the noise and din of modern life and help me re-center.

400gsm is pretty hefty I think. Kind of less like cards and more like little artworks.

That's real value, gorgeous art printed on superior cardstock, a rare combination.

The RWS interpretations also seem to be extremely well thought out.

Their entire concept is quite brilliant and beautifully coordinated.

Isn’t it such a beautiful deck? I was going to back it and then life happened, and I ended up passing on it. Plus, I wasn’t sure how readable it would be. I was worried it would end up just being another beautiful art deck. I still think it’s stunning though, and may pick it up at some point. I really like that it’s printed in the UK.

Yes........"Life" has a very bad habit of doing that. To whom should we file a complaint?
When you find out, let us know.......seriously.

From what I can tell, it's an absolutely exquisite deck, simply charming.....but NOT cloying or "treacly" I think is the British vernacular.

The publisher/artist are very nice people, I recently received a reimbursement for postal overcharges from the U.K. to U.S.A.
There are not many sellers who do that, that's a rarity for sure.

Insofar as readability is concerned, it's obviously a RWS inspired deck, and appears to be extremely well done at that.

IMHO, the issue of the "readability" of any given deck is very subjective, just as it is with the perception of the art.

I could easily immerse myself in the images and read very comfortably with it, for me it's a win-win situation.

I wasn't sure whether to post this here but, well, it's not a review and neither am I still awaiting the deck stork. Anyway, my copy of the Oak, Ash and Thorn Tarot arrived last week. And it's even more stunning in real life than the pictures. The photos don't do justice to the quality of the cardstock, the weight or the overall packaging. From the custom tape around the parcel to the exquisite print quality, this is an absolutely superb deck.

I got in at the pre-order stage rather than the kickstarter so didn't receive any of the additional gifts. But I couldn't be more happy with it. Here's a quick picture showing the box, the Wheel of Fortune and two bonus cards plus a quick guide. I'll look to write a review at some point soon.
