For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
Hello,
I’m selling a Dusserre Dodal (complete), opened, but in excellent condition (see photos).
The deck is from a non- smoking household and has never been used for reading.
The cards are like new: clean, straight and no damage to the corners.
There is one slight score mark next the cut out half moon on the box opening (visible on the box photo ‘Lover’s side’). This is purely cosmetic.
I’m happy to send more photos via PM, to anybody who is interested.
The price is $300 US (EUR 272, £233 both approx) + worldwide postage (registered post/ recorded delivery only, the cost of which will be discussed/ arranged after agreement of sale). PAYPAL only. The deck will be posted from Switzerland.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or PM me.
Cheers,
Reg Dent

Re: For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
DejaVoo,
I appreciate that $300 is not an insignificant amount of money, but it is commensurate with the price the Dusserre Dodal usually commands (actually I’m offering it at the lower end of the price range I have seen it sell for over the past 10 years). As you probably know, it is a highly coveted decks by TdM collectors, given it’s scarcity (they rarely come up for sale) and it being the only photo reproduction of the original (as far as I’m aware), made from the two, incomplete decks known to exist; one in the French Nation Library (?) and one in the British Library).
I also understand, however, that an item is only worth (monetarily) what people are prepared to pay for it.
Thanks for your interest.

Re: For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
I saw a deck go for about $130 on eBay a little earlier this year. I've always coveted this deck for years but, when that time it showed up, I wasn't able to get it before someone else did.
Re: For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
That would have been a great price!
The last one I saw on eBay (2 or 3 years ago) went for well over $500. CollecTarot lists one, though ‘out of stock’ at $399. The few other times I have seen them for sale, the asking price has been between $300 to $400.
I will probably list my deck on eBay and lower the starting price slightly in the next couple of days.
Please don’t consider my first reply to be anyway critical of you, DejaVoo. I just wanted to clarify why I consider my asking price to be appropriate,
..........$270 and it’s yours

Re: For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
Perfectly reasonable price for such a deck. I had two copies once. I sold one when I was in dire need of cash also for about 300 dollars and the other I gifted to a friend.
I wish I hadn't sold one though. The gift I don't regret, but why oh why did I sell the other. (Needed to pay my bills I suppose). It was sold to someone in Japan.
Reg Dent: I'm also in Switzerland. It's unusual to see Swiss residents on a tarot forum.

Re: For Sale: Dusserre Dodal
Reg, I just wrote to my son asking if he wanted to come in February on a Ghost Walk (I see you have a break from end Nov. to Feb.). He didn't answer (he's very cryptic sometimes) but sent me this poem instead.
Ghost House
Robert Frost - 1874-1963
I dwell in a lonely house I know
That vanished many a summer ago,
And left no trace but the cellar walls,
And a cellar in which the daylight falls
And the purple-stemmed wild raspberries grow.
O'er ruined fences the grape-vines shield
The woods come back to the mowing field;
The orchard tree has grown one copse
Of new wood and old where the woodpecker chops;
The footpath down to the well is healed.
I dwell with a strangely aching heart
In that vanished abode there far apart
On that disused and forgotten road
That has no dust-bath now for the toad.
Night comes; the black bats tumble and dart;
The whippoorwill is coming to shout
And hush and cluck and flutter about:
I hear him begin far enough away
Full many a time to say his say
Before he arrives to say it out.
It is under the small, dim, summer star.
I know not who these mute folk are
Who share the unlit place with me—
Those stones out under the low-limbed tree
Doubtless bear names that the mosses mar.
They are tireless folk, but slow and sad—
Though two, close-keeping, are lass and lad,—
With none among them that ever sings,
And yet, in view of how many things,
As sweet companions as might be had.

I know this is an old post, but giving it a shot:
I wonder if you still have your Dusserre Dodal copy available?
Matt (KhonsuMes) - a new member here, but an old member of Aeclectic..
