Hello :)

Hello everyone. I'm in Western Australia and I've been using Tarot for nearly 20 years, mainly for personal development and, more recently, Shadow Work. I occasionally read for friends or family, and I've taken part in reading exchanges/challenges on another Tarot forum.

Another Cult of Tarot member, Marigold, posted about the Button Soup Tarot kickstarter which is how I found this forum. It's a gorgeous deck. :)

I'm not a collector although I now have quite a number of decks, mostly RWS and RWS clones, but also a Thoth, a first edition Mary El, a CBD deck, and a Wild Unknown.

I've been doing a Depth Year this year and it's been really insightful. It's fit in well with my exploration of Taoism as well.

I'd like to learn the TdM system and also the Kipper, and astrology. So much to learn!

It's great to be here and I look forward to getting to know other members.

Hi Starlight !! Nice to see you. :D

The more the merrier!! Am looking forward to your contributions and exchanges. You seem to have a very solid background in divinatory matters. I'd love to hear how your exploration in Taoism fits in with your Tarot work. If you have time, please make a post about it. Tao. What a lovely word.

Yes, The Button Soup deck is lovely indeed and unique too. If you've backed it and once you've received your copy, we'll all be able to join in the discussion of the cards once it's printed and sent out. But we still have a bit of a road to get there. Kickstarter as often in these cases seems to have slowed down a bit - but that was to be expected. It's part of the Kickstarter experience I would think. But we still have quite a number of days and I'm confident we'll get there with the support of fellow Tarot enthusiasts.

Again, thanks for coming over here for some more friendly and interesting discussions.

Oh dear, I hope I haven't come across sounding like an expert - nothing could be further from the truth! Studying Taoism is a very recent pursuit and was inspired by a post I read on Benebell Wen's site about the necessity of cultivating qi if you do any occult work, even something as simple as reading Tarot. Because I had been feeling quite drained this year, I took Benebell's advice to heart and I've started studying Tai Chi. I also do an 8 Brocades Qi Gong exercise I found on YouTube and I've started reading Solala Towler's "Practising the Tao Te Ching: 81 Steps on the Way". This has all happened in the last month of so. Doing Depth Year led to doing more work with Tarot, which led to feeling a bit drained, and then I found Benebell's post on qi cultivation, and a new path opened up. :D

(I also wonder if doing Shadow Work frees up qi because it takes effort to suppress and turn away; probably more than is needed to work with an energy and make sure it manifests in a beneficial way.)

I am wishing you all the very best with the Kickstarter campaign.

Sounds really wonderful all you've recently starting doing. Must open up many many doors. Isn't the Tao Te Ching wonderful? I wish I'd studied it at school instead of all the boring stuff that's perfectly useless for most people and even impossible. I recall sitting in my maths class thinking "why the f.... are they forcing me to TRY and learn trigonometry. Useless in my particular life experience". I was right. Absolute waste of time. The Tao Te Ching would have been much more suitable.

I don't understand the qi cultivation very well, if at all (have never read much by Benebell although I've got a lot of respect for her.) I'll go and see if can find that article.

I'm so sorry, I should have posted the link! Here it is:

I have to agree with you about schooling. There's so much important stuff that's ignored and overlooked, and so much that isn't going to be useful in life after schooling. Education is one thing, schooling another. They're not synonymous. :)

Hi, welcome! I am still initiating, tho, waiting for my first deck. Do you know someone who made free readings Exchange or in order to train or that are initiating too and thus promotes 1 question reading for example for free to make their work known? I decided to try to do readings to myself and others because the potential of tarot is huge... however, the readings represents a lot of costs (€€€) and thus, I would like to study this, in order to do my own guidance readings, for me, for family, friends or who ever needs me. I've been curious and needing some answers regarding my love life and friendships, so I can't wait till I start practicing.

With love,
Eleonor.
