Scary stories
Hi all, does anyboy have any "scary" story involving a tarot card reading to share? 20 years ago I was very young and did my training at a company. I met a lot of people there, and when my training has finished 3 years later, I left the company. I stayed in touch with a nice woman from the...

Re: Special Announcement about Cult of Tarot
Hello, I find that so sad. Although I don't frequent this Tarot forum so often, I have never seen one of such a high quality. It's a rare exception in a sea of esoteric bla bla bla . I think it would be a great loss to shut the form down and delete all the posts. But as I understood it that's not go...

The Death and the Death Card
Hi all, among Tarot readers and the Tarot community it is common to say that the Death Card means NOT that a person will die, and I agree with that up to a point. But I wonder why this interpretation is so often excluded, sometimes very vehemently. I agree that not the Death card alone is a sign to ...

Re: Elements and pips
I think that associating the pips with the elements of water, fire, air and earth is a New Age phenomena from Western occultism. I tend to agree. In terms of divination, I don't make much, if any, use of elemental associations. May I ask you then how you read the pips? Actually I don't think that i...

Elements and pips
Hi all, I suppose the most Tarot readers are used to work with the 4 elements when it’s coming to interpret the pips. But is there any author who reads the cards without this “4 elements dogma”? I think that associating the pips with the elements of water, fire, air and earth is a New Age phenomena ...

Re: CBD?
Hi all,
did anybody notice that the coin suit is the only suit in CBD tarot which is not numbered?
The cups are numbered although it's easy to count them. It's more difficult to count the Swords and Batons..
Wonder what Conver exactly thought he is doing..

I don't like that idea.
It's not TdM at all and I think it's just about moneymaking

Re: Best RWS reproduction: MPC Study Deck or 1909 Art Restoration?
Today my deck has arrived. I adore it, the card stock is quite perfect and the dark colour and shades are so intense. I find the crackle backs are far more beautiful than the backs from the Centennial deck. But mostly I love the missing copyright symbol, it gives the deck a more "ancient" ...

Re: A Maison Dieu XVI is not a Tower
What I find particularly interesting is that the Bedford Book has been published between 1400 and 1430. It might be worth knowing if the creator(s) of the first Tarot de Marseille had access to the Apocrypha or those hour books. Unfortunately the Tower card is missing in Europe’s oldest (Visconti) d...

Re: A Maison Dieu XVI is not a Tower
Neither do I think that La Maison Dieu is a hospital. The probability of this building being a hospital is also just one of many interpretations. Actually it doesn‘t matter if the translated title of this card is „House of God“ or „God‘s house“. Both might refer to a tower (of Babel), symbolizing th...

8 of Cups
https://www.bilder-upload.eu/thumb/99b379-1607274328.jpg Hi! We see on the 8 of cups card a man is leaving the bank of a river. Probably the scene takes place at night during full moon (?) phase. Did anybody of you wonder how this man could cross the river when there is no bridge? If he did, how di...

Re: 3 of Swords
Hi again! @ Joan Marie: Sorry for my misspelling! I meant that the 3 of swords is just the result of the 2 of swords. For me the blindfolded and sword holding person represents the doubts he/she has. And those doubts end in resignation/depression (3 of swords). Amongst other things the 4 of swords r...

Re: 3 of Swords
Thank you all for your thoughts, but I still have the feeling that this picture is unsuitable in a particular way. My interpretation of the first three RWS swords cards is (more or less) this: Ace of swords: Idea 2 of swords: Doubt 3 of swords: The doubt’s consolidation @Joan Marie As far as advice ...

3 of Swords
https://s12.directupload.net/images/201203/8qiouhyk.jpg Hi, I like the RWS Tarot. But from all 78 cards the motif of the 3 of swords is the most incomprehensible for me. You see a red heart that is brutally pierced through by 3 swords. In the gray background we see gloomy clouds while it’s raining....

Re: Are TdM decks really free from fixed meanings?
@ fire cat pickles: hey would take the Major and correlate it with the 5 of Coins minor--the "Hierophant" in this case, the "priest/Pope" card. The element earth is solid and grounded. Bingo. You have a well-grounded, happy marriage. But the same method could be applied for RWS r...

Re: Are TdM decks really free from fixed meanings?
@ fire cat pickles But within reason. You're not going to find an RWS reader saying that 5 of Pents is going to mean "happy marriage" or 10 of Cups to mean "unlucky" for instance, in any context. It just isn't going to happen. In TdM this is well within the realm of possibility. ...

Re: Are TdM decks really free from fixed meanings?
@ Charlie Brown: There's no one way to read TdM. Just this is the reason why I wonder that so many TdM readers say the Waite-Smith cards are so limited in their meanings. Does ist really make a difference to read with TdM or WSM deck? I think that the illustrated scences can help, but eventually the...
