Re: My Planetary Week # 4: January 19 - 25
Deck: The Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg. This is my default Waite/Smith-ish deck and I haven't used it in a while, so I thought I'd touch base with it. No pictures because my shoulder/neck is a bit messed up and trying to photo things will just hurt! (We don't seem to have this deck listed in the ...

Re: A Forum Wide Brainstorm Session
Eh, I'm American and I'm find with "cult" in the title. I mostly think of cult following, cult classics, etc. (But I have a certain fondness for bad movies, so...!)
Anyone put off by the word "cult" would probably already be put off by the idea of Tarot, too, one way or another.

Re: Introducing basic Numerology
The base 10 doesn’t bother me so much. Base 10 is a cultural construct, the Tarot (in my mind) is a cultural construct, so we’re fine. The same with the fact that early Tarot decks weren’t numbered. We’re not using those unnumbered cards, and we don’t live in the Renaissance anymore. Yes true! But ...

hahah oh good lord not the purple! or not as default. I admit to preferring black/dark layouts with lighter text for when i'm browsing at night and don't want to stare at a giant lightbulb, though.

I can't imagine importing such old vbulletin code would be worth it or even possible. But as far as informal inspiration for organizing the landing page, for example, or the kinds of subforums to have under the main ones....that's what I meant

I am so here for this controversial opinion!! https://media.giphy.com/media/gl0mkIZOW6Nwc/giphy.gif But on a more serious note, I'll raise some other points. Because I have a really hard time getting into numerology for its own sake, and only begrudgingly accept it within Tarot. My beef with numerol...

Re: A Forum Wide Brainstorm Session
I think it's definitely worth looking at what remains of AT and seeing what can be integrated. Not the style necessarily, but here I'm thinking of site structure and layout. While this is obviously a different space than AT, there's a reason it worked so well for so many people, and if we can ease p...

Re: Septenaries: Lovers/Death/Apocalypse
That is a relevant thought, for sure -- but the impression I get is that there's supposed be an artistic link across septenary families as well in SKT, in addition to a link in meanings. More about that in Benebell's design statement.

Septenaries: Lovers/Death/Apocalypse
I'm at Key 6 in the exercises (as per the guide) and I'd love to talk through this particular septenary family (for lack of a better term). I find it quite hard to find the intended (visual) family resemblance that more or less pops out at me in the other groups. At a stretch, Keys 6 and 13 both fea...

I completely forgot about the coloring book! Thanks for reminding me!
The images there look to be from the First Edition as well, however. But now I have a paper copy I can glue side-by-side with the originals for comparison.

Original Major Arcana vs First Edition
(Mods, maybe move this elsewhere if you feel it's a poor fit for this forum!) I downloaded the original Majors-only SKT when Benebell first shared it last year and have slowly been working through the recommended guide book exercises. I was wondering if anyone else was still working with those and h...

I mean, at the end of the day there's going to be shoehorning somewhere -- Tarot sprung up in a different time and place than the GD and that's just how it is! I just want minimal shoehorning

Re: Spirit Keeper's Tarot study group?
This is so exciting! I was about to post that a Majors/Minors/Courts split seems pretty logical to me, for any deck but especially for SKT.
Thank you so much, Joan Marie!

Re: Best Decks of 2018
Benebell couldn't nominate her own deck but I can! That said, I'm the wrong person to participate in this kind of discussion. I don't keep up with Tarot news and I tend to acquire decks very slowly and thoughtfully and years after the fact. That Sasuraibito Tarot is lovely, though. I think it might ...

Spirit Keeper's Tarot study group?
I can't be the only one among us who splurged on the Spirit Keeper's Tarot, can I? ;) I've been working through the original majors-only workbook first, minus the ritual coloring (I kind of want to get all of the analytical stuff out of the way first, and then go back for the intuitive bits), and I ...

Re: About decans and planets - or what do the astrological signs on the Thoth minors mean?
I love this post and this idea! I'll definitely be journaling about it later. Personally, I've always struggled with how Crowley justifies his (the Golden Dawn's? My tarot history here is fuzzy) take on the courts. The Princesses as elemental (or whatever the right term is) rather than signs always ...

A yes/no method
Ahh, yes or no questions. The bane of our existence! I came up with a new method on the fly a couple of weeks ago or so and I like it so far, so I thought I'd release it into the wild. I might end up doing a few swaps with this one, to practice more myself. First of all, I'd like to credit Jack of W...

I sat for a while with a Rinzai Zen sangha, until I moved out of the country. My work schedule for the last few years has meant that attending the only local zendo is out of the option. But I do miss the social aspect (...of sitting in silence with other people?) and the common interest, so when I s...

There's no Tarot police, not even Benebell (though my admiration of her knows no bounds). ;) Though if you're itching for some some occult coloring from her AND still want respect her prescription re: the ritual coloring, she's made some of the images from the companion book and her metaphysicians p...

Re: Never gonna give, never gonna give, give you up
I went from a compulsive deck buyer to giving away half of my (tiny) collection and not really replacing it. I'm still young (though not as young as I used to be ;) ) and so it feels silly to talk about the decks I've never given away, as if I've been collecting Tarot decks for an impressive amount ...

Re: Do you read reversals?
It depends on the deck. With the Thoth I use elemental dignities, not reversals. With the Robin Wood deck (which I admit I rarely use these days) I don't use reversals, since Wood admits in her book she doesn't use them herself; the same would hold for any deck with a creator who's made statements a...
