Re: The Oak King & Holly King

I did some research on British traditional holidays for my A British Wheel of the Year Spread, and I’m fascinated by calendar and holiday (and astrological) stuff. I’m sure I’m not the only one to figure this out, but I don’t think I’ve read it anywhere. The dating of Christian saint days and holid...

Re: What's the Deck-Stork bringing?

My TAROT PIERRE MADENIE VERSION 1709, arrived today from France. I just love it. Gave it shuffle and pulled this card 20200702_142923.jpg A good sign I'd say. 🦋 Awesome! Definitely a good sign! 👍👍 I’ve got the Mists of Avalon Oracle on its way. Saw a really nice walk through on the Hermit’s Cave an...

Re: Oak, Ash & Thorn Tarot Deck Pre-Orders

Isn’t it such a beautiful deck? I was going to back it and then life happened, and I ended up passing on it. Plus, I wasn’t sure how readable it would be. I was worried it would end up just being another beautiful art deck. I still think it’s stunning though, and may pick it up at some point. I real...

I really like both...I ended up going with Crown and Star....because as you said, it might stand out more, but I do think Star and Crown flows off my tongue better lol.

Re: What's the Deck-Stork bringing?

I just bought the TAROT PIERRE MADENIE VERSION 1709, from Yves as a gift for a friend and now I have to purchase one for myself. (just did) I am becoming more and more interested in the TdM. In the past year I have bought a couple of, let's say, no so authentic versions and I liked them, they are n...

Just wanted to chime in that the Byzantine Tarot is being reprinted, and will be available in October 2020, according to Schiffer Publishing/Red Feather’s Fall/Winter catalogue.

Have you seen The Sabbath Tarot on Kickstarter? It's dark and looks beautifully done. (heads up - it contains full frontal nudity of men and women, if that isn't your jam)

duly noted, and thank you very much! :)

Re: When to use Lenormand

Just a word on some of the decks there: The Koenigsfurt is a Dondorf pattern, yes. The stock isn't very durable, though. And the Dondorf playing card insets have been replaced with other PC images, which may be OK for some but will bug others. But the price is right and its an excellent beginner de...

Andy also has a blog that he is currently adding to. In July he started with a Lesson 01:01 for beginners and is now up to Lesson 02:01. http://abcartomancy.blogspot.com/2019/07/lenormand-oracle-101-lesson-0101.html And his book is my Lenormand bible. Amazing resource he is for cartomancy skills. B...

Re: When to use Lenormand

But there's a selection of much better Dondorf-style decks here http://gameofhopelenormand.bigcartel.com/product/le-fanu-s-lilac-dondorf-is-returning Caitlin's book isn't bad. She's a good reader, she gets it. Her book is respected, but not considered to be the best available. The best is still eas...

Re: I finally bought a Lenormand deck

Hexe Clair does good beginner level videos. I'd avoid the Josten book. Mary Greer one-starred it and slammed it on amazon, which is really unusual for her. Yes, it's that bad. https://amzn.to/2wkE5dt thanks for sharing your insights and this review, @katrinka. I picked up that deck set for only a c...

Re: Best Tarot Decks For Beginners

This has been an interesting thread to read. When I started out, I was told to get a RWS deck, because it was the only way to learn. I was discouraged from trying out the Thoth, as it would be 'too difficult' although it was more pleasing to my eye. I remember looking at that RWS deck and hating it,...

Re: When to use Lenormand

I don't know much about the Musruck, but I think Katrinka might. Caitlin Matthews is a solid author and reader but isn't really a Lenormand specialist. Out of the books that I have any knowledge of it would probably be my fourth choice behind the two I mentioned and then Rana George. Good to know, ...

Re: When to use Lenormand

Hi @CharlieBrown Agreed, there is a time and a place for such decks. :) I have a number of oracle decks, and most of them are useful, and a couple are more fluffier. Although, sometimes a little fluff is needed, for the reasons you mentioned. :) Sometimes, I need a little coddling when reality is ju...

Re: When to use Lenormand

This is a great question, and not being a Lenormand reader myself (as of yet), it was something that I wondered about. Having read your replies, now I know that I definitely want to learn it. It just sounds so useful (not that Tarot isn't - I guess it's about using the right tool for the job :) Haha...
