Re: The strangest combination: The Star + Death. Help me figure this one out.

I have put in brackets that (especially) with the tarot de Marseille we are brought back to ourselves. In the case presented, I really think it's relevant to talk about reflective thinking. I do not think that all tarots can invite this, especially when the structure of the cards is aimed at divinat...

Re: The strangest combination: The Star + Death. Help me figure this one out.

The position was "What I need to know about him" I really can't come to a conclusion about these two cards together. As Charlie Brown says, your question is really too broad. And Pilgrim points to the idea of being careful. Cloudynoir, let yourself be guided more by your inspiration (the ...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

So, we have very different methodologies with the tarot! Personally, I am not detached emotionally, on the contrary, I use my emotions a lot (I feel, I perceive, the tarot is a source of inspiration which solicits my subjectivity which is directed by the structure of cards), and I'm not trying to be...

Re: Tarot and the elements of fire and air

That aside, I will note that at least one author has pointed out that since there are in fact five suits of cards, should we not be looking for a "fifth element"? I've been languidly mulling this over for some time. Intuitively, aether seems a good fit for a fifth element. If anyone's int...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

The main trouble I have with reversals is how I would get the cards reversed in the first place. It always seems contrived for me. Do I force them to become reversed when shuffling? It always seemed... unnatural. Depending on the cards we draw, we feel different emotions. Reverse or straight cards ...

Re: That which is Unnamed

Yes, strange thought if you interpret card 13 as "carnal death", because in this card 13, the idea of the resurrection is already present! The card goes far beyond the theme of death.

Re: That which is Unnamed

There are obviously several interpretations or schools. If the word "death" has disappeared for a century, was it a royal edict that prohibited this word ? By the way, I admire your iconographic research :) In Paris, I had a Tarot teacher who talked about alchemical thought. He said that i...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

There are very good things that have been said, here. Books that talk about prediction and clairvoyance give a lot of negative interpretations with the cards upside down (selling drama is a good business deal). A more philosophical or initiatory approach does not need to give negative meaning to the...

Re: That which is Unnamed

Death has many times meant actual death of a person or the dead. I sometimes feel like we neuter the power of the card This card talks about the theme of death, yes but in much broader aspects than carnal death. The TdM is first of all initiatory, that is why I speak of "symbolic death", ...

Re: That which is Unnamed

In the third sentence of the Bible, God "says"! So God begins to name things. Card 3 is linked to speech, card 13 is also linked to the verb. The "word" is also a symbol (it represents something). This card evokes what is not symbolized or unnamed. Man, after God, can name things...

To all

To all, I am French and I started studying the Tarot de Marseille in 1992. After a fairly long training, I used TdM (professionally). Then I gave TdM courses ... I am very happy that people in the world are interested in TdM, and I think I can answer some questions, hypotheses, suggestions ... by gi...
