Re: Opinion: Tarot Cloths

I bought a beige cotton cloth that has the Lenormand houses on it. It’s thick and dense and if I use the side without printing just looks like a plain cloth. I only need a cloth sparingly but it’s nice to grab when I want it.

Re: kare Reads for Merrick: 1 reading, 2 decks

I hope this helps! I wish you the best in what is a difficult process even when all goes smoothly and even when the move is not so great as going to another country. Thank you so much for letting me read for you! This was a very interesting reading, thank you. It brought up an aspect of this journe...

Re: Merrick reads for Charlie Brown: 1 reading, 2 decks

If you're amenable, I feel like this spread, at least the way that Kare demonstrated, seems like a good candidate for one of those "general" readings that people like on the internets. Or, maybe more specifically, something like "How can I be most effective over the coming months?&qu...

Jean wrote: 16 May 2020, 11:22In Paris, I had a Tarot teacher who talked about alchemical thought. He said that if card 13 "corresponded" to death, this card would be the last in the game!
Strange thought given that the Tarot also features a card of resurrection of the dead.

Re: That which is Unnamed

Death has many times meant actual death of a person or the dead. I sometimes feel like we neuter the power of the card to suggest it means transition or simply a stoppage. Especially in the TdM where death is actively reaping. I can see the RWS card coming across as less “extreme” as Death is not an...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

In regards to reversals of Marseille pips, most of the pips are recognizably different in one orientation versus another. For the swords, the center sword or flower will be pointing down instead of up. For cups, the cups themselves are upside down. For coins the orientation of the foliage growth goe...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

I’m not sure Crowley cared much about oaths he’d taken to a defunct organization that he had left acrimoniously many decades before.

I’m looking to move to Ireland within about a year with my family. I’d love some insight into how that process will go, thank you!

Re: Tarot and the elements of fire and air

I think there are compelling arguments for switching the correlations of fire and air. Fire is necessary to forge the metals used in making swords, so fire is a necessary component of the makeup of a sword. Swords can be used to lead a charge (think of mounted cavalry with their swords drawn as they...

Re: The dreaded reversals question

Up until now I’ve mainly ignored reversals, but here is what Yoav Ben-Dov wrote about them in his book: “When a card appears inverse we shall read it as the same factor working in the opposite direction, which is contrary to the querent’s wishes or interests. This means that the inversion stresses t...

Since we have an odd number of participants, I’m going to set this up as a round robin.

Charlie Brown will read for Merrick
Merrick will read for dodalisque
dodalisque will read for Charlie Brown

Re: The Jet-Lag Chronicles: Life at the Northwest Tarot Symposium

It’s such a shame that the pandemic canceled this year’s NWTS. I live in Portland and would love to go. Hopefully I’m still in the NW in October of next year! It went on this year, just by the skin of its teeth though. It was just a few days later everything started shutting down but I'm sure a lot...

Re: The Marseille Tarot Revealed - Ben-Dov

I didn’t realize there were such significant differences between the two versions of the book! I thought the only difference was the Revealed version was full color. The CBD is one of the better mass market TdMs, but I’ve really come to dislike the redone faces. They don’t retain the character that’...

B, smaller is almost always my preference, especially if this is being used in conjunction with another deck, so it’s easy to determine which cards are coming from where.

TdM sign up: Tirage-en-ligne

Bonjour! I’m honored to be hosting my first reading circle! I send my gratitude to Joan Marie and Charlie Brown who both thought I would be a good fit, and I aim to be up for the challenge. :) As today begins the fifth month of the year, I thought it would be appropriate to do a traditional tirage-e...
