Re: Fyodor Pavlov Tarot

This deck looks spectacular. I’ve long held that the greatest contribution Pamela Coleman-Smith made to the Tarot was introducing gender ambiguous figures and this deck takes that idea and runs with it. If I had seen this campaign sooner I would have donated to it. To be honest, I seriously questio...

I’ll also sign up! I’m a real Lenormand newbie so reading for a fictional character seems about as low pressure as it gets.

I hope they’re right! I’d be upset if Tarot led me to a completely wholesome life.

Re: Is this a creative time?

And right after posting that I had a synchronicity! I was entranced by the card of the day, which is from the Venetian tarot, so I looked up the Venetian tarot and when I went to the creator’s website I came across this Dance of Death oracle that he created: https://www.etsy.com/listing/759677098/da...

Re: Is this a creative time?

I know this isn’t to the same scale, but I keep thinking about the art that came out of the plague period. The dance of death, ring around the rosy, etc. I always felt the Death card in the Marseille was a holdover from the depictions of death in art that the Black Death inspired. I would expect to ...

Re: Wrestling with swords

I’m saying I’m having trouble connecting those RWS/Thoth meanings with swords, regardless of what the TdM meaning is. The TdM meanings make sense to me because I can make the connection between swords, conflict, and protection. I am having trouble making the same connection between swords, thoughts...

...is a great way to get cut! But seriously, I’m having a hard time figuring out what the suit of swords really means. In the TdM, they are mainly conflict, which makes total sense. Depending on the context, they can also be protection, which again makes sense. They can be other things too but thos...

Thanks for checking! I would be happy with either edition. Having read Benebell’s comments on the differences between the two decks, I believe I would work well with either version.

Re: The Fools Journey

I agree with everyone else who said that the TdM does not represent the Fool’s journey. I think about the times in which those decks were made. Fools, or jesters, were entertainers. They were commentators. They did not play a significant, active role in events, instead they remarked on what happened...

Re: 0 - The Fool (RWS)

In Zen Buddhism there is this idea of “Beginner’s Mind”. The concept is that a beginner sees everything with fresh eyes, by virtue of knowing nothing about what they’re seeing. Once you begin to know about a thing, you limit your abilities to see it for anything else. A pertinent quote about beginne...

Re: Is mystery a luxury beyond the means of most people?

I’m taking a shot at the question “Is mystery a luxury beyond the means of most people?” As I scrolled the questions that one really jumped out at me so I grabbed my deck and started shuffling. Merrick, I moved this post to it's own thread now. Plato's Cave works best if each question has it's own ...

Is mystery a luxury beyond the means of most people?

I’m taking a shot at the question “Is mystery a luxury beyond the means of most people?” As I scrolled the questions that one really jumped out at me so I grabbed my deck and started shuffling. Since dodalisque pointed me here from my pips practice thread in the TdM section, I’m going to do this as ...

Re: Rachel's DoW 14 Minchiate Etruria

I have this same deck and I also love it, but I always leave out the astrological cards because astrology is a weak spot for me. I LOVE the pips in this deck. They’re the reason I bought it actually. The interlocking swords and batons look so good.

ISO Spirit Keeper’s Tarot

Sadly I only discovered this deck recently and while I would be willing to third party print the 30 cards Benebell has available on her website, I’d prefer the full set as she originally produced it. I’m open to either the first or second editions. Thanks!

Re: Daily pip practice

Thank you for the beautiful reading. Those two angled swords on the 10 of Swords representing the chained humans on the Devil card is excellent. The vertical empty ovals made by the curved swords look like the slit-shaped pupils in the eyes of goats. And we know of the goat's association with lasci...

The good news is that the apprentice section of Quareia does not use the Quareia deck, just the RWS, so you can still work the apprentice courses without waiting for the deck to arrive.

I already have a Type II in my library, but if I were to get another it would be Pablo Robledo’s, which is just gorgeous and does incorporate a few elements from Type I decks like the face on the Devil’s stomach. This might be taking the discussion off sideways, but do you have any ideas about the ...

Re: Tarot de Marseille Decks - Musings

To me the most important elements of the Type 1 decks are the blindfolded Cupid in The Lovers and the choking face of The Hanged Man, both of which change the way I read those cards. Unfortunately the Millennium edition doesn’t retain those, and I also don’t love that The Fool and Death are flipped ...

Great thread idea! My go to is the Flornoy Noblet, I have the commercially printed 78 card deck and the hand stenciled major arcana. They’re both beautiful and I love the character of the Noblet designs, ribald and funny and vital. On my wish list is the Tarot Sheet Revival Dodal deck, which I surel...

Re: Daily pip practice

I just want to point out that there's only so much one can get out of a book. A lot of people seem to think that they'll receive the answers to their questions in books. But the Tarot is the only book we need. 78 pages of it. Each page is a book in itself. Books are nice to get some insights we wou...
