Ah, yes. The dark side. Thank you Joan Marie and Libra for your lengthy, thoughtful and lucid replies. And Charlie Brown for the reference. Lots to think about.

Re: Some Thoughts on Shadow Work
Forgive my ignorance, but I am still unclear. Not knowing the precise definition, when I see reference to 'shadow work' it leaves me somewhat puzzled. Is it something distinct from the 'whole'? How? Is it something fearsome that lurks outside, in the darkness? Is it something unknowable that you wan...

Re: dodalisque reads for BreathingSince72
. In the list of decks in your profile I notice Pablo's Flamand Vandenborre. I would have liked to track down a copy of that but apparently it was a limited edition of just 28 decks. Has there been a commercial edition I don't know about or do you have one of those 28? Looking forward to us both re...

I did watch this video and, although my past exposure to his ideas had me prepared to be dismissive, I wound up admiring him. Here is my preliminary critique, which I will expand after I watch it a second time. https://parsifalswheeldivination.com/2018/08/29/tarology-enrique-enriquez-and-the-tarot-...

Re: Esoteric or ordinary interpretations
Just MHO. Simply stated, tarot, and all the other cards used for oracles and divination, are all subject to the will of the diviner. As to tarot, you can read them any way that you like since there is no agreed-upon method that applies across the board as, say, Lenormand. You can read them while att...

Re: Lenormand - qu’est-ce que c’est ?
Yes, I passed the gameofhopelenormand store to my daughter. Then, I decided to put up an Etsy store because so many people go to Etsy. But since Etsy takes such a pound of flesh to be there, I also opened another big cartel store, The Cartomancer that has better prices and has decks other than Lenor...

Re: Opinions on card backgrounds
Thanks for your support, Stronglove. I like the Lismon best, too. I think it's the lovely blue frame around the images. Yeah, that's it. And the soft colors. Lenormand became my obsession, and what started my card making. Now I am dabbling in TdM but there are a few lovely collector-oriented decks t...

Teuila Fortune Telling Cards
My thing is facsimile and restored reproductions of obscure decks that haven't seen publication for 100 or more years. I have been working on another reproduction of a rare, old oracle deck, Teuila Fortune Telling Cards , from 1899. This deck of 45 cards came with full instructions and a reading sty...

Fingers. Don't they look silly? I like that Hanged Man a lot.Charlie Brown wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 15:52 I wasn't previously familiar with the Vandenborre. I see that The Hanged Man has those same things on this shoulders as in the Noblet. Does anyone know if they are meant to be his hands or wings or what?

Nothing quite like the originals (sort of)
Admittedly I am not impartial. I like a facsimile reproduction rather than a re-drawn restoration, that I can riffle shuffle and that has the images of the actual antique cards without the stark white background and primary colors. So I reproduced the Dodal with its original colors , slightly cleane...

Reading with Tarot de Marseille
I started reading cards with the RWS tarot. In 2012 I discovered Lenormand. The straight forward method of reading the cards I found very appealing. Along the way I became interested in the Tarot de Marseille because reading with this tarot seems very akin to the Lenormand style. No fluff, just tell...

I have no experience with Andy's book but I do have experience with Bjorn Meuris' courses that he expanded into book form . His step by step, straight forward method takes a diligent learner to competence in very little time. Just follow the exercises conscientiously. His introduction to Lenormand i...

Re: Question about Big Cartel
I opened a BC shop in April 2013. They didn't have their fingers in my PayPal acct then. I just looked at the account settings there, and I saw there is a 'PayPal Standard' option. There's also the 'New Seamless Checkout' that I don't think existed back then. That may be one of their, uh, improvemen...

Re: Using Etsy
Your idea would be great. One of the things that Etsy promises to its sellers is that their algorithms put the sellers' items at the top of the Google hits. That's one of the big attractions of Etsy -- people can FIND the sellers' STUFF. That's something that it falls down on for my shop. Big Cartel...

And to charge commission on postage...!!! Totally unacceptable. It's called capitalism. Greedy b@$tards. Last I heard eBay wasn't that bad. Re: Using Etsy
Of course it costs to use Etsy, but you price your wares accordingly. Being on Etsy gives you broader visibility than forums and people who buy there feel more secure in their treatment than if they go to indie sites. At leas there is reliable feedback there whereas not necessarily on indie sites. A...

That would require a very long post. However Mary Greer has a wonderful post on her Lenormand blog addressing your questions and much more in the form of an interview here .
It is read totally differently from tarot. Once you get into Lenormand, there's no going back.
