Re: Deck Delights and Deterrents

I stumbled across that video yesterday, prior to your post and I must say that I enjoy her demeanor, eloquence and candor. If you hadn't already posted the link to her youtube video, I would have. One of the important messages that she imparts is that over time, characteristics that were previously ...

Crystal Tarot Eliz.Trevisan 4 cards to consider

A beautiful deck by a supremely gifted artist, however, upon very close examination of the cards; I've discovered that 4 of the Majors were printed in reverse.....they're mirror images. This works for the The Hierophant card because the image with the Papal Staff with the triple Cross correctly corr...

Re: Queen of Cups - Natl. Gallery of Art, London

This is probably no surprise to you or the other historical tarot lovers who frequent this forum, lol. But learning the pre-RWS decks in anything but the most passing manner is something very new to me. Well yeah, actually all insights, historical or otherwise are a surprise to me as well, but that...

Queen of Cups - Natl. Gallery of Art, London

Thanks to Giordano Berti and Benebell Wen for the use of images from their respective websites for this comparison of 3 versions of the Queen of Cups from The Sola-Busca, Pamela Colman Smith's RWS Tarot and the Mystical Tarot by Giuliano Costa. This YouTube video produced by the The National Gallery...

Dame Fortune's Wheel Tarot Lover's Card

I'm very certain that there are MANY people here who are already aware of the source material for Paul Huson's trumps in his deck published by Lo Scarabeo ie. Este, Rosenwald, Budapest, etc. However, there still seems to be some question regarding The Lover's card, although, again I'm sure there are...

African Tarot & Marseille Tarot reviews

2 tarot decks published by da brigh pronounced "duh-br-EYE" https://dabrigh.com/ this review of the African Tarot offers refreshingly candid and astute observations. From the few images I've seen, it seems to be a very pretty deck, and there ARE other considerations as the reviewer points ...

Queen of The Crossroads - She rocks

She's real, I love her style, she says it like it is, as she sees it. The actual deck presentation of the Serpent and Peacock Tarot is poor, VERY poor, but she's a pleasure to watch and listen to, especially if you don't like all that phony kissy kissy nonsense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qAi3...

Jean Dodal - Dusserre vs. Kartograme

I was unaware that there are two versions of the venerated Jean Dodal, one housed in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (published by Dusserre) and the other residing at the British Museum (published by Kartograme under license from the British Museum). It'll be fun taking out my Dusserre and comp...

Re: Sun: quick help

Upon further investigation and a cursory comparison of two Sola-Busca editions and a brief cross referencing of a book by Sofia Di Vincenzo with a preface by Giordano Berti, I've come to the realization that there are major discrepancies between the edition published by G. Berti and a very early edi...

Re: Sun: quick help

You know, I realize I actually misread the post about the Yale and thought that was the Vieville. The Vieville is the image I was looking for in my mind when I posted this question. It’s so easy to get these details mixed up, ESPECIALLY with the historical decks. I have a ridiculous amount of notes...

Re: Sun: quick help

TIME OUT..............or more accurately, are we forgetting the time line here? First of all the Scapini recreations are from 20th century. The Vandenborre Bacchus is from 1780, therefore the Scapini Sun of the Cary-Yale deck cannot have been the source inspiration, unless I'm overlooking something ...

Re: Sun: quick help

my bad, the Cary-Yale is a Luigi Scapini recreation of the Visconti Sun card.

I believe the correct answer is the Jacques Vieville Sun card:

Re: Two exquisite hand painted tarot cards

Now we have four exquisite hand painted cards. we can see now that the first image featuring the 2 of batons and 4 of coins was digitally enhanced, the vibrancy of the blue in the floral motif as well as the color of the paper, didn't make sense. Also, notice that the damaged corner in the upper lef...
