So this is what happened.
About a month ago this site became some kind of portal of mischief and not in a fun way.
Long story short, an errant post of some kind (maybe intentional, maybe not at all) made its way
through this site which runs on a creaky-ass version of a wonky old forum platform, and then wormed its way onto the very server which houses it.
That infected file proceeded to take down this forum as well as 4 other websites I have on the same server.
It was a pretty bad situation that kept me tethered to Tech Support for about 12 hours that day. In the end they were able to restore the 4 crashed websites but I was advised to shut down this forum because it could very well happen again.
Prior to this invasion/infection event I had been forced to close the forum to accepting new members due to a relentless onslaught of ridiculous spammers. I’m talking crazy-town, like 3x a week having to delete 50-100 posts flogging all manner of questionable things & services, and then ban the users. It was just so stupid.
I don’t know why anyone would want to bother this little forum like that. To what end?
It doesn’t make any sense but here we are.
And now I’ve been prevailed upon to shut it down entirely.
I haven’t deleted anything. It’s all still there, just not accessible to the public anymore.
