Magical Realism is a genre of art or literature that incorporates fantastic or mythical elements into an otherwise realistic setting.

The style of the scenic illustrations on the cards is the inspiration for the name of the deck.

The interpretation of each card in the Magical Realism Tarot honors the traditional meaning ascribed to the cards,
but emphasizes a more modern, psychological point of view that encourages self-empowerment and creative thinking.

Fantasy, myth, and the unseen are part of our everyday lives and those perceptions have a bearing on our understanding of life.

When using these cards, we combine both the “real” and the “magical” to better understand ourselves and our world.

The Maker’s Tarot is a deck inspired by artists and crafters of all kinds.

Each of the 78 cards features a different craft or creative process,
from sculpting and painting to a variety of textile arts and more-
carefully selected to correspond to traditional RWS card meanings.

The deck is printed on 350 GSM card stock, with bright lime green foil edges,

Marshmallow Marseille by Wandering Oracle

This deck is an 18th-century Tarot de Marseille redrawn with a contemporary folk art flavor.

The deck is a bit smaller than usual, about 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

The second edition has just come out (July 2018) with an improved box and iridescent backs that retain the same kaleidoscope image with a little marshmallow in the center.
The cards, printed on 320 gsm card stock, are smooth, pleasant and very easy to shuffle.

The deck is based on the tarot of Lombardy by Angelo Valla-Trieste.

Melanated Classic Tarot by Julia Goolsby & Oubria Tronshaw

The Rider Waite Smith tarot deck, originally published in 1910, was illustrated by Pamela Colman-Smith.
Although she is quoted as saying the project was "a very big job for very little cash," in the hundred-plus years since the deck was published, it has become the gold standard for tarot readers all over the world.
Although the deck was meant to showcase universal archetypes to spark the subconscious mind of every
man and woman regardless of race -- and although Colman-Smith was a bi-racial woman of color who spent her early life living in Jamaica, she was paid to draw scenes depicting only whites.

Oubria Tronshaw & Julia Goolsby felt that it was time for the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck to be re-imagined,
to reflect the images of the individuals Colman-Smith surely would have considered examples of classic, magical archetypes.

Representation matters.
Visual reparations matter.

As new generations of melanated men and women turn toward tarot cards for guidance, spirituality and entrepreneurship,
its imperative they use tools that replenish their self-esteem, power & potential.

The Mystic Rubaiyat by Penelope Cline

The Mystic Rubaiyat is a set of seventy-five cards -
one for each of the seventy-five verses of Edward FitzGerald's creative translation of the Rubaiyat attributed to Omar Khayyam.

The appropriate quatrain appears below each illustration and in each of the decorated doorways, providing a two-fold key to meditation.

Postcard size, with white borders and plain white backs, the cards were published in a limited edition of 100.

They come with a white silk square in a black box with the Omar's Key image on the lid.
The title card is signed and numbered on the reverse.
