M Lenormand Decks

Madam Morrow's Fortune Telling Cards, Lenormand
from Old Lenormand Cards

These cards are named for a disreputable psychic who told fortunes in New York in the late 1850s.

She had a very colorful life, and was arrested many times for defrauding her clients.
Since her name was well known the publishers decided to link her name to these the Lenormand cards that were enjoying widespread popularity in Europe.

The cards are elegantly detailed line drawings with playing card inserts.
The directions that originally accompanied the original deck are identical to the Philippe LeNormand page that
accompanied all the Lenormand decks from the mid-1800s through the 1950s, and perhaps beyond.

The difference was the introduction on the instruction booklet that reads, "Madam Morrow, whose name is so well known,
well merited her success as a fortune-teller. Whether this success must be attributed to the fact she was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter,
such persons always possessing it is said rare powers of divination, or to her being a close student of the methods of the great
Madam Lenormand who foretold the grandeur of Napoleon I. and his empire, as well as the downfall of many of the nobility of France, is a question we are unable to decide."

The copyright date on the instruction page is 1886.
It is printed on premium card stock that shuffles easily.
Each deck is custom ordered. Comes with NO LWB.

McLoughlin's Lenormand c.1882: Mystic Cards of Fortune
from Old Lenormand Cards

The original version of this deck the Lenormand Museum dates at c.1850.
The New York Museum has a version that is very similar with almost all images lifted from the original 1850 deck that was published by the McLoughlin company of New York in 1882.
It was entitled the "Mystic Cards of Fortune."

The cards that differ most notably are the Coffin, the Clouds and the Ship which in this version flies an American flag.
This restored deck was all black and white line drawings and all the inserts were black.
The only alteration that I have made to the faces of these cards was to change the color of hearts and diamonds to red.

I also added a back design because the original was blank. It is printed on premium card stock that shuffles easily.

Each deck is custom ordered. Comes with NO LWB.

by Pamela Cummins

Merlin’s Purrfect Lenormand is based upon the Petit Jeu thirty-six card deck.
Each card has a symbol, pip, card number, and even the name of the symbol.

These features are especially helpful for beginners; however, more seasoned Lenormand readers
may find them useful as well. This deck was made in a poker-sized format, making it is
easier for those who use the grand tableau spread.

Please note that Lenormand is different from the tarot.

The obvious factor is there are less cards.
Also, Lenormand has a simpler, down to Earth aspect, while tarot is more esoteric.
Lenormand does have its complexities, which is why I have included a PDF with insights on how to read the cards,
plus meanings for each of the thirty-six cards.

This deck was created to honor my cat, Merlin, who crossed over on February 6th, 2021.
