The Friar's Delight Lenormand by Joan Marie
The Friar's Delight is a Lenormand deck with a medieval twist.
The images are all taken from illuminated manuscrips and placed in authentic frames on a
black background to make the images pop for your readings.
This is a fun deck designed, like the illustrations in those ancient tomes,
to bring ease and pleasure to your Lenormand readings.

Frommann & Bünte Lenormand, a.k.a. Alte Deutsch c.1860/ 1875 Old Lenormand Cards
According to spielkartenonline-shop.de this deck was first published c. 1860, making it one of the earliest decks named for Mlle LeNormand.
According to Peter Endebrock's "Playing-card Pages" another version was published by Frommann & Bünte in Darmstadt, Germany c.1875.
The full size version has the aces in the usual places except for the Gentleman that has the Kladderadatsch in place of the ace.
In the mini version of the cards that are otherwise identical to the full size ones except the inserts were made with jokers in place of the aces.
This was done, in 1875, in order to circumvent the taxes levied on playing cards at the time.
The Gentleman's card has the "signet" of the satirical magazine of the time, "Kladderadatsch. " Since they had no aces, they presumably couldn't be used for regular card games and thus were not taxable.
They have been minimally restored with the worst blemishes healed.
The cleanup has not been perfect so as to preserve some of the antique character.
It is printed on premium card stock that shuffles easily.
